True Autonomy in focus at WindEurope 2023

Subsea Europe Services will be exhibiting at WindEurope 2023 this April and our focus will be on autonomous marine survey and underwater inspection at all stages of an offshore wind farm’s lifecycle.

One of the year's largest wind energy events, WindEurope 2023 will take place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen from April 25-27. With more than 10,000 visitors expected to attend, and over 430 companies showing their latest innovative products and services, we're excited to be a part of this event. The conference line-up is packed with 250 speakers, from European government ministers to technical and operational specialists, making this a fantastic meeting place to connect with industry experts and learn about the latest trends and advancements in wind energy.

Our stand, C3-A4, will be home to the A.IKANBILIS Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (HAUV), an advanced solution for underwater inspection applications. The system has already been shown to deliver significant advantages over traditional diver or ROV inspections during trials conducted by Nordsee One GmbH and supported by manufacturer BeeX Pte Ltd and Subsea Europe Services at the Nordsee One wind farm in the German North Sea.

While A.IKANBILIS is already one of the most advanced autonomous marine platforms in the world, the Subsea Europe Services R&D team continues to improve its operational capabilities, project workflow automation and overall autonomous intelligence. This is part of our mission to deliver true autonomy in marine survey and underwater inspection applications, also using our Autonomous Surveyor Uncrewed Surface Vessel as a platform for innovation. Autonomous Surveyor is additionally being developed for use in maritime security operations, which is another area relevant to the industry attending WindEurope.

“We have already shown how autonomous operations can optimise various marine survey and underwater inspection workflows but we continue to develop technology and integrations that will make our platforms even smarter,” said Sören Themann, CEO, Subsea Europe Services. “Our over-riding objective is to provide systems that require only very minimal human interaction to acquire marine data or inspect underwater infrastructure. This is true autonomy and it will allow professionals to leverage more value from their resources while delivering more, and higher quality marine data a much lower cost.”

Our WindEurope stand will be shared with our partner TrueOcean, a company offering solutions for the digitalisation of marine data. Their Marine Data Platform is a dedicated cloud-based service that focuses on the various steps in the journey of marine data after it’s acquisition during marine surveys and underwater inspections.

Digital data management is essential to expanding the value of autonomous data acquisition operations, as it make it possible for stakeholders including survey companies and wind farm operators to store, analyse and share huge amounts of marine data. Considering that a lot of survey data is still shuttled around on hard drives, TrueOcean is providing a platform that will bring data management technologies to the same advanced level of our autonomous data acquisition platforms.

“Data acquisition and data management are at opposite ends of the marine survey value chain but they are inextricably linked,” said Jann Wendt, Founder of TrueOcean. “What Subsea Europe Services is doing with its autonomous platforms is the key to unlocking survey and inspection resource efficiencies that will enable more data to be acquired faster. Likewise, digital data management ensures that survey professionals, offshore wind farm operators and marine construction companies can make more sense of data, using a single platform to optimise their own specific workflows.”
