Since joining Subsea Europe Services in January 2022, Agata Feldens has enjoyed applying her academic experience as a geospatial data scientist and geologist to the commercial subsea industry.
Agata holds a diploma in Coastal Geology from the University of Kiel and has conducted extensive research in sedimentology and marine environments, where she developed a deep understanding of seabed mapping and data interpretation.
“My favorite part about the job is that it's so diverse and I am constantly learning,” Agata shares. She enjoys the opportunity to grow her skills while finding innovative solutions to challenges, such as troubleshooting data discrepancies. Agata’s expertise in data analysis, combined with her passion for continuous development, makes her a valued member of the team.
Reflecting on how technology has changed the subsea industry, she emphasizes the importance of advancements in data analytics and AI-driven systems that have streamlined processes and improved collaboration. Remote monitoring and real-time digital platforms, Agata notes, have revolutionised safety and efficiency.
Agata’s role in the OTC Stone project, which uses AI to automatically locate and define stones, and boulders on the seabed, showcases her enthusiasm for new technologies. Her academic background has been instrumental in her contributions to this project, and in her transition to industry, providing her with a strong foundation to contribute to data analysis at Subsea Europe Services.
To those entering the commercial sector, Agata offers valuable advice: “Be passionate and find joy in what you do,” she says. This approach, combined with her enthusiasm for collaborative problem-solving, has helped to ensure that Subsea Europe Services always delivers accurate, reliable data to meet our clients’ needs.
