Cutting-edge underwater technology

Sonardyne technology is used throughout the lifecycle of an offshore wind farm to provide data for diverse applications, from environmental studies, and site survey and characterisation to cable installation and Operations & Maintenance.

The entire Sonardyne product portfolio is available from the Subsea Europe Services rental pool. Further, we are working closely with Sonardyne experts to leverage more value through new integrations that promise to improve data quality and simplify workflows.

For commercial customers, our focus is to augment our manned and unmanned vessel turnkey solutions with dependable and accurate USBL positioning using the powerful, easy-to-use Mini-Ranger 2 and Micro Ranger 2.

Mini-Raner 2

With a 995 m operating range, extendable to 4,000 m, Mini-Ranger 2 can track up to 10 underwater targets simultaneously, including divers, towed instruments, ROVs and AUVs.

Mini-Ranger 2 is a compact, easily installed system, so it’s the ideal choice for temporary installation on small survey vessels, as well as uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). It’s built around the same market-leading 6G hardware and Wideband 2 digital acoustic technology you’ll find in the entire family of Sonardyne USBL systems – even the software is the same.

  • Performance without the cost and complexity of a deep water USBL solution

  • Perfect for nearshore operations; UXO surveys, search and recovery, structure inspection

  • Portable and quick to mobilise; a great choice for small survey vessels, moored barges and uncrewed vessels

  • Optional Marine Robotics software feature pack provides command and control of AUVs

  • Works with a wide range of 6G transponders including RT 6 acoustic releases

Micro-Ranger 2

Portable and quick to mobilise, Micro-Ranger 2 USBL can be used from any waterside location or vessel, including RHIBs and small survey vessels, to track divers, underwater vehicles and equipment. It’s built around the same market-leading 6G hardware and Wideband 2 digital acoustic technology you’ll find in Sonardyne's family of deep water USBL systems, Mini-Ranger 2 and Ranger 2, but for significantly less cost and complexity.

Micro-Ranger 2 is incredibly easy to use. Simply connect your computer, external GNSS and transceiver to the system’s common interface unit, then attach one of the included transponders to a target you want to track the position of.

  • Tracks divers and underwater robots as they explore rivers, lakes, reservoirs, harbours and coastal waters

  • Never used a USBL system before? No problem. Micro-Ranger 2 is simple to setup and use

  • Deploy it from a dockside, RIB or even from unmanned surface vessel; no special hardware needed

  • Up to 995 m range and ten hours battery life for continuous use
